001. Where in the vehicle can the 3pmdev be installed?

The 3pmdev can be installed anywhere there is available space. Some possible installation locations include the trunk or glove compartment. The only restriction on installation location is the wiring harness length.

002. How is the 3pmdev installed into the vehicle?

The installation is "Plug-N-Play". For the Diagnostic Version, two wires must be attached at the rear of the Instrument Cluster. Appropriate heat-shrink crimp connectors are provided for this purpose.

Media Version:

  • Remove the Navigation System (radio removal keys are not provided)
  • Disconnect the original cable from the Navigation System
  • Route the 3pmdev wiring harness (e.g.: from the Navigation System to the glove compartment)
  • Mount the 3pmdev in the vehicle and connect the wiring harness at the 3pmdev PC
  • Connect the 3pmdev wiring harness to the Navigation System
  • Connect the original Navigation System cable to the 3pmdev wiring harness
  • Reinstall the Navigation System

At completion of this installation, the 3pmdev PC is connected to the 3pmdev wiring harness, and the opposite end is connected to the Navigation System and it's original wiring harness.

Diagnostic Version:

  • First, follow the directions for the Media Version installation (however, do not yet reinstall the Navigation System)
  • Connect the additional diagnostic cable and route to behind the Instrument Cluster
  • Remove the Instrument Cluster (e.g.: remove 2 screws and pull cluster forward)
  • Further route the additional diagnostic cable, as necessary
  • With the 2 provided heat-shrink crimp connectors, connect the Diagnostic Cable to the Powertrain CANbus (details in installation manual)
  • Reinstall the Instrument Cluster
  • Reinstall the Navigation System

With this version, the Diagnostic Cable is the only additional step.

If TV Tuner is installed:

  • Original TV Tuner cable must be changed
  • Alternative connector is soldered on
  • New connector is attached to the 3pmdev Wiring Harness

Since the original TV Tuner socket is necessary for connection of the 3pmdev, the TV Tuner can unfortunately not be connected without altering it's connector.

003. Are the radio removal keys, for removal of the Navigation System, included?

No.

004. Which wiring harness lenghts are available?

  • The short wiring harness is approximately 1.50m long (e.g.: for Globe box).
  • The long wiring harness is approximately 6.00m long (e.g.: for the trunk).

005. Can I use the original CD-Changer Wiring Harness to connect the 3pmdev?

No, and modification of this cable for such use is not feasible. The 3pmdev is connected via the provided wiring harness, which is independent of the CD-Changer wiring harness.

006. Where can the 3pmdev installation be performed?

The installation can be completed by most automotive stereo installers, however we provide no endorsement, time or cost estimation, or installation quality guarantees.
